Not wanting to be "that girl"

I've always thought that I would hate to be the girl who is waiting and waiting for her boyfriend to propose. We've all heard the stories of how every holiday and trip holds the anticipation of the idea that "maybe this is it!"

Recently I've realized that second to not wanting to be "that girl" should be my latest role of being a close friend to the girl who is waiting and waiting for her boyfriend to propose! For the last five months or so every holiday, birthday etc. has been a "potential occasion" and now last night marked their two year anniversary. After a long line of holidays with his birthday, her birthday, Christmas, New Year's Eve, Valentine's Day and now the anniversary, it's been a long road.

The hard part is watching your friend get disappointed and knowing deep down that her boyfriend has NO IDEA that this is her expectation! (I'm learning that just because someone is a communication major doesn't mean they are necessarily good at communicating.... ; ) If only they lived in Columbus so I could share some wisdom with the poor guy! Oh well, we will see what happens.

Agreed. If she has not shared her expectations with her boyfriend, then she is setting herself up for disappointment.
